Delhi,. A pharmaceutical research firm based in India has developed a method to make oil-based vitamins dissolve in water without turning it cloudy, addressing a problem that has limited the functional beverage industry for years.
ACME Research Solutions announced that its nanoemulsion platform can deliver nutrients like Vitamin E and bioactive peptides in a liquid that remains visually indistinguishable from plain water.
The technology works by shrinking nutrient particles to under 50 nanometers. At this scale, particles no longer scatter light, resulting in a transparent solution that stays stable on the shelf without separating.
Dr. Akhilesh Vats, Director of ACME Research Solutions, explained that the formulation achieves zero turbidity while carrying high-density nutrients. “This allows us to load high-density nutrients into a beverage that remains as clear as pure water,” he said.
Functional beverage manufacturers have long struggled with this issue. Oil-soluble compounds typically create milky, unstable mixtures when added to water-based drinks. To mask this, companies often use dyes or additives, conflicting with the “clean label” trend that favours minimal, natural ingredients.
ACME Research Solutions, which focuses on nanotechnology and drug delivery systems, is now offering the technology to pharmaceutical and nutraceutical companies seeking to develop premium transparent beverages.
